At Spaulding Memorial, students work with a variety of materials including, markers, crayons, paint, paste, paper, and clay. They learn about the elements of art and how to recognize art as a form of communication and expression. Throughout their elementary years students explore different age appropriate methods of becoming artists. All projects help students with their imaginations. The lessons are integrated with content from their classrooms. This allows students to bring knowledge they have learned to the art room to demonstrate understanding or solidify abstract concepts from the classroom into practical use. They are also exposed to artists ranging from the Masters to contemporary. Students learn their different styles of painting as well as expression behind the content.
